Can You? Poem by Kelvin Owusu

Can You?

Rating: 5.0

Hold your breath,
now tell me
can you still breathe?
Close your eyes
can you still see?

Diamonds are forever
blood spilt stain eternal
wash your hands
can you still see red stains?

Constant frowns
turn upside down, would it be classified as a smile?
Onslaught of emotional pain
stand in the rain
is your pain washing away?

Diamonds are forever
yet life ceases to exist when it's stolen.

I like the play on words at the end. Even when we steel a diamond, it still exists. A life stolen/ taking someone's life, is clearly very final. Struggling with the link to the rest if the poem. Is it about choices? Living with guilt? Interesting but a little illusive for my small brain! Maybe it is a few scenarios that are not completely linked? X

Not sure I understand this one Kelvin - a few notes might help. It reminds me a little of my own write Can You See - maybe the meaning is similar.
