Can You Spare? Poem by Ima Ryma

Can You Spare?

For decades, the U.S. has paid
Billions to Israel and Egypt,
A fraction of all foreign aid,
Taxpayer dollars off we shipped
To the leaders of 'friendly' lands,
Hoping they buy the lines we sell -
The do it our way name brands.
We're shocked when these plans go to hell,
And wonder why the U.S. is
Not a fav of the common folk.
All those dollars to mind their biz,
Just does not buy their love - no joke!

As we sink into dire distress,
Who will give aid to the U.S.?
