Cancer…the Unwelcome Visitor Poem by Theresa Ann Moore

Cancer…the Unwelcome Visitor

An uninvited caller came knocking
At the locked and bolted door
Entering through the keyhole
The invader ensued and explored

As the hungry guest sought…
It gave indications of a change
Carefree days took an abrupt turn
Familiar forms began to rearrange

Easing into comfortable surroundings
Taking root…determined to remain
Staking claim…demanding sustenance
Declaring ownership of the domain

The atmosphere chilled rapidly
As warm sunlight began to fade
Fate chews upon a clouded mind…
Eradicating choices must be made

As the intruder slept soundly
Diligent tactics were employed
Carefully removed without alarm…
Wellbeing is restored and enjoyed
