Candle

Through the day a candle
really has no need,
no need to give off light,
to give us people sight
but when it comes to the night,
it shall have its stage,
to dance a nd flicker,
burn and shimmer,
until we go to bed
then it shall be dead,
until its next performance
it shall wait.
asleep.

Poem of the Day

poet Henry Lawson

The old year went, and the new returned, in the withering weeks of drought,
