Candle In The Night Poem by Gareth Simpson

Candle In The Night

Rating: 5.0

The sky is dark but my candle burns bright
wherever i go so will my light
I am a small fire that began with a spark
You said that im blind, and should live in the dark
but my flame will not dampen without a fight
allthough im one candle vs the whole night

I am the paintbrush and i am the paint
I don't need a new canvas if this one i taint
every stroke reveals what i see
but you already have your picture of me
my hand is not bound by the perception of you
be it green or grey or black or blue

I am the fighter and i am the fight
If i miss with the left ill try with the right
I've taken the punches, taken the blows
you knocked me down plenty but always i rose
The battle is mine to lose or to win
i'll never surrender, never give in

I am the actor and i am the play
The world is my stage, thats what i say
Monkey will see and monkey will do
You say im playing a role but so are you
The play is not over till the curtain is drawn
cheer me or jeer me just please don't yawn
