Candles Poem by Tsani Jones

Candles

They stood side by side,
And when he first saw her
She touched his soul,
Gently lit the first flame.

The inferno spread
This combustion of love and desire,
From his crown to hers
And they blazed as one.

If you watch
And listen,
You can hear the song of passion
Crackle between them-

With every passing moment
Hurtling to a shorter end,
Burning to a nub
Of what they once were.

They were spires of many colors...
She was green and of the moon,
He was orange, gold, and held the stars
But they both had red, white, and blue.

They are a single furious flame
Of love, destiny,
And power...
A Queen and her King.

They seem to be melting...
