Psaltydog's Thoughts

Captain of My Soul

A mighty storm rages upon a torrential sea
Waves flood my hull and stir within me fears
In all this tumult I see you resting in peace
Why can’t I see you're still in control, still very near?

Then you say, 'Peace be still' and calm the angry sea
You quiet the quake below the bellowing waves
At an instant all is at peace. O that I’d believe!
You’re the captain of my soul, the one who saves

I of little faith, lift up my hands to you
'Who is this, even the wind and the waves obey? '
I fear your holy name. I’m in awe at the greatness you do
It's for your grace and peace that I pray

Captain of my soul, you who rule the waters
You alone can calm the sea and rein in the winds
You set our souls aright that we may no longer falter
Only you know the cost before the storm begins

Beholding me that all the pageants play,
Disguysing diversly my troubled wits.
