Capturing What I Can Poem by RoseAnn V. Shawiak

Capturing What I Can

Going through a phase of life I'd rather not face,
setting aside everything and trying to concentrate
on learning something regarding life and what we're
supposed to be doing to gain some wisdom.

Elderly people are intent on going back in time,
holding onto memories for safe-keeping.
Only I'd prefer not to repeat their inane mistakes,
because I want to run into the future with my mind
wide open, capturing whatever I can before death
grabs hold of me, taking me on a final journey to
another horizon - one where I can begin again in
another dimension.
