Carnival In Town Poem by Juan Olivarez

Carnival In Town

Rating: 4.0

The roar of the generators, fills the air,
Beautiful neon lights abound.
Barkers screaming everywhere,
The carnival is in town.

Cotton candy, corn on the cob,
Yummy smells float on the night air.
Better than any smelly old club,
People smiling without a care.

Screaming children, faces aglow,
On the ferris wheel.
Enjoying themselves, immensely, so,
Cannot seem to calm their squeals.

From the haunted house come screams,
Carried on the evening breeze.
The carnival is the stuff of dreams,
There isn't a person it doesn't please.

Munching on popcorn people walk by,
Up and down the crowded midway.
Contented and happy, under the autumn skies,
In complete chaos, in disarray.

So much laughter and so much fun,
That's what the carnival bestows.
But they're always gone with the morning sun,
They just pack up their things and go.
