Carry Me Home Poem by wild fire

Carry Me Home

Rating: 4.5

Alone in the alley, I walk
thinking of your face
I can hear your voice and
I try so hard to push it from my mind

Its dark and the drunks smile at me
as i walk faster and suddenly i realize
its a dead end....almost like my life
I look to the top of the brick wall infront of me

I close my eyes as a cold chill
races across my neck
A few leaves rustle, startling me
and I kneel and sit against the wall

My holey jeans and tee are no
match for this novemeber weather
I needed to think after our fight
and now I'm lost

I lean my head against the wall.
'Please carry me home, ' I
hear myself think aloud
'I forgive you.'

It's now 2 am
and I'm barely awake and alive
My stomach growls and my head
tells me to get up and go home

I try to stand but fail and
slink against my barrier and
my eyes close
forcing me into an unwanted sleep

I hear a voice
'Carry me home, ' I say
obviously disoriented
'I will, ' the voice says with a smile

I wake up in a bed and
someone comes in with a cup
of hot tea and a smile
It's you

'I'm sorry' I begin to say
but you put your finger to my lips
'It's fine, I'm just worried about you.
Are you alright? '

'Yes, thank you.' Is my reply
and a warm embrace stings
my cold fingers but I dont mention it
Its great to be with you again

A few hours later I yawn,
leaving your house
'May I come with you? ' you call.
I yawn again, but smile.....
