Casanova Smile Poem by James Trotter

Casanova Smile

The streets of Venice are engulfed in it
Girls are attracted by it
It stretches like a mile on the sea
But will it be the defining factor
Will it be his most favorable trait
Or will it be his cunning words
That persuades the fille
She is not a victim of his prowess
She is the receiver
He is well practiced in the art of seduction
He's the Pablo Picaso of love
Do we not recognize his likeness to ourselves
He pursues that which pleases him
That which dwells in the depths of his 'demon'
Are we not such Casanovas
Do we not wet our toes in it as well
Are we not just as guilty
Can we not see past our standards
Could we not see into the nature if our existence
We are the species of experimentation
Embrace our longing
Be curious
Be extroverted
We are mankind
There is no other like us
So hit on that girl in the bar
Practice your art
Experiment with your Casanova Smile
The smile that dwells within all of us
In many mutated contours
It's the swagger in your step
The slur in your words
The heart felt serenade
Be like an autumn leaf
And go with the flow
That breeze that sweeps you away
Or be the zephyr of infatuation
That's all you need to discover your Casanova Smile
It's an attribute
A property with the ability to mesmerize
The ability to sway another
Change the air
To start a conversation
That something is in all of us
It's embedded in our DNA
That stoical attitude
Passed down to the next generation
It's the most precious family heirloom
Venture to the bottom of your acquisition
The undersurface of your Casanova Smile
