Cat (Killed By The Side Of The Rd) Poem by Tony Mushrow

Cat (Killed By The Side Of The Rd)

Cat. (cat killed by the side of the rd)

I see you at the side of the road, as if asleep,
But I fear from this cat nap there is no end.
A silver lady calls your name, in the
……………………………garden, park.
I know you cannot hear, or are able to stir.
You will not be returning to coil on her lap,
……………………or warmed by the fire,
no more teasing of next doors dog,
or chasing birds preening on the window ledge.
What would your last cat wish be to your friend,
……………………………the truth,
or would you prefer that she thinks,
you have gone on some catty holiday.
For your owner now perturbed,
Not knowing of you forever sleeping by the kerb.
So goodbye to you feline, your
lives I think have counted nine.

POET'S NOTES ABOUT THE POEM
I saw a dead cat and thought how sad that its owner may never find it.
