Catching Up On Reflections. Poem by Dan Reynolds

Catching Up On Reflections.

Catching up on reflections.

So there we were, two old friends in a bar,
remembering the laughter we had shared.
The Juke Box offered Mark Knopfler’s guitar.
(The “Sultans” sounds as fresh as when first aired.)

The chasers chased the beers, but not so fast
as they had chased when we were twenty-one.
The peanuts and pork scratchings, gone at last.
(Banned, lest, cholesterol should fire its gun.)

That’s when I told my friend to look behind
at two old codgers,15 yards away.
He scowled at me, as if I’d lost my mind.
He might be right, for here’s what he did say…

“You think that could be us in ten years time?
You’re looking in a mirror pal, is this some Pantomime? ”
