Cavecreek Days Poem by Alven L. Robinson

Cavecreek Days

The morning light turns gray to gold,
And as she wakes
The desert shapes
Begin their dance and flow.

A silent chill clings to the silken breeze,
Fair winter's gift
To beauty's crown
Beyond her faith and pleas.

And then across the floors of stone
A shadow moves with grace alone,
Sweet company to fill the air
Adobe walls have come to share.

Before the mirror of fortune's rhyme
A memory appears,
A fragile moment lost in time
Within a single tear.

An answer borne on winds of dreams
Alights upon her door,
A gentle bird of prophesy
To sing of what's in store.

Just then a touch of gleam
Returns unto her eyes,
A trail barely seen
Of sunsets yet to view,
Of scarlet skies and fireflies
That dazzle with their clues - -

The muted hills that speak the Word
The coyote howls with wonder heard
The palo verde come to bloom
The amber beams that frame her room
The creek that glistens in the shade
The gliding waters on display
The chimes that speak of season's turn
The spiral of the incense burn
The echo of the owl at night
The visions borne upon twilight
The marvel of a child at play
The Love reflected day by day
The glaze of eyes when old friends meet
The proverbs that are shared to keep
The moon above saguaros tall
The lure of distant stars that call
The Soul that spawns the winds of change
The patience wherein wisdom reigns
The hours by the deepest well
The Unity where answers dwell
The presence felt in times of calm
The embrace of the arms of dawn
The smile at a simple poem
Before the final journey Home.
