Cecilia Poem by Aidan Clevinger

Cecilia

This is for a friend of mine who has suffered a lot in her life, and doesn't see how beautiful she is (inside & out) . Cecilia (you know who you are) , hon, you don't need to worry; God is with you, and I am too. Ciao, bella!

Cecilia, you've been scurrying,
Since the day that we first met;
Fretting so and worrying,
Over wounds past and coming yet.

You've one foot in the present,
The other in the past,
You're searching for a pot of gold,
But worried it won't last.

But Cecilia, dear, I wish you could,
See what I see in you.
There's so much more than what you know,
Though you may not think it true.

Your heart of gold, your inner strength,
Your humor, charm, and wit;
There's so much to you that's wonderful,
If you could only see it.

Cecilia, you've been hurt before,
But I think you ought to know,
You're beautiful from the inside out,
And to me, at least, it shows.
