Certified Junkie. Poem by Kim Dang

Certified Junkie.

Rating: 5.0

Frown down at me, overbearingly shaking your head
as No One Knows drones on in the background, besides my bed
As if everything's on mute and we're fast forwarded
I'm miserably peaking outwards of these warm covers and
The hand of each clock wind down my realizations
Each fault, passable as long as I give in
to my top notchly destructive rationalizations.

I think I've done just that, on my way in this door
And time, mercilessly moving me forward.
To the next stage, through the next haze
I feel as if everything's passing by on a marijuana daze
And the events, they remain unfortunate
The talk of the down become old news, once we've outlived it
So what's next after what's new? I'm still waiting.
Everything politics, every college gimmick, I'm still hazing.

Everything digg tells me, so del.icio.us., I've dug.
Stumbling upon the wikihows, youtube drugs.
It's howstuffworks.
Entranced by these euphamistic hollywood romances.
I've gone haywire keeping up with each web 2.0 dances.
The partners, they become multiple, I've become adultrous,
The tabs on firefox have mated like rabbits
And this addiction, this life style, I've made it my habit.

Can I break away from launch.com, imeem.com, meebo.com
Ignore the neon signs on this 15 inch of mine to look beyond the
binary 1010101s.
I've lived long without TV, thought of life ascetic.
But I've fallen into something worse, it's not life as I see it.
Marginally, am I that much happier with all this multitasking?
Feeding my discontent with information, fine with this much brain racking?

I've dumbed down some expectations of mine, both online
and real life.
I've chiseled away some anxiety by practicing shrugs and giving out
more hugs, this time.
I've turned off the computer screen to go biking dangerously at night
but like sirens, I'm my computer's Odysseus, I am addicted.
It sings to me, it tells me if I don't check my email next morning, I'm an idiot.
So back I go to, once the explorer restores my options, the tabs will
keep multiplying in a few seconds
I'm multitasking without any desire to stop and
it's unanimous, I'm hooked to the internet, I bring it flowers daily
I'm its first class gentleman.
It's my number one lady.
