Chains Poem by Claude H Oliver II

Chains

Rating: 5.0

Chains are designed for many uses
Chains on tires in snow help you go
Chains on hands and feet are hard to defeat
Chains on anchors hold ships in place
Chains on the mind shackle the spirit
Chains of hate incinerate the soul
But the chains of love are most unique
For when we are bound by love
We are free to give of self
We are free to care for each other
We are free to laugh and spread joy
We are free to be – and be our best
Love’s chains come without request
Though they have a pain of their own
But the freedom of life these chains bring
Are worth the groans and moans of carrying them
