Cherrywood Easel Poem by Joseph Narusiewicz

Cherrywood Easel

She wrestles with fire of a vampire
Footsteps on the roof
Moonbeams of a wolf
Tiles as cool as stolen snow
Cossacks ride horses of a Queen
My Queen with the sword of pain
Tears for the unworthy jester
Sunset like bloody velvet
The dead tried to steal her heart
Feigned words of the barren lover

I have come with ancient rituals
Candles of silver slaves
Rise with the verdant sun
Laugh with the timeless sea
Pirates steal vessels waiting for joy
Hew guava garden of yellow pink
Purge the cryptic thorns
Leave the gossip and the vacuum
Two edged blade cuts away fangs
Her eyes open with burning pyres

She dreams like Caribbean flowers
Paintings locked in the heart
The maple floors need an easel
Royal princess of pastel hope
The sun is rising like a cardinal
Music flutters like a child's eyes
No talons can hold the true soul
Healing is letting go of the false
Real friends shine like rainbows
The time of sorrow melts in spring

Her cherrywood easel is out again
