Chesed Poem by Amanda May Moore

Chesed

Chesed is a Hebrew word,
That is not often heard.
I just recently learned of it,
Other words don't quite fit.

Have you ever experienced a sort of...
Feeling when you start to fall...
Then you suddenly wake up
And everything is just as it was.
But not really. It will never be.
See, that feeling of waking up
From falling in one's sleep is similar
To that of falling in love.

There is a sudden shock
When you fall and hit the rock.
I've been there twice now.
I continue living which is how
I know that the fall is scary.
oh-so-verrrry.

Well, this word 'chesed'
Is not too easy to translate.
Never gotten past that slight scare
of falling in love. I suddenly wake up
As soon as it is thought of.

Often ppl say I don't know what it is made of
But honestly. do you know what that word means?
'Love' is such a small word if you look at it,
But is it really? This word is only a translation.
Doesn't properly define it. And so we need to
Use adjectives to describe which kind of love
We are trying to say.

Chesed... chesed. this is the love
The largest kind of love delivered from God above.
