Child Abuse Poem by Emma Wilson

Child Abuse

Rating: 4.5

A door slams shut,
a place to hide?
a fist on the table,
i need to find.
Footsteps on the stairs,
don't move or he'll hear!
Heavy breathing,
my body numbed with fear.
Shouting and screaming,
I block my ears,
Smashed glass on the floor,
can i cry any more tears?
Now he'll come searching,
though this isn't hide and seek,
BUT I Can't fight him off,
I'm just too weak!
I guess the word Father has no meaning,
no, daddy doesn't give a damn about his little girl.
Now the monsters been defeated,
Its me and mummy now,
I've wanted this for so many years,
and My good Friend showed me how.

I am reminded of the song Memory Lane when reading this good flowing poem for a difficult subject. In the words of the song 'I see that heaven is, I feel the pain where I am back down memory lane'

Excellent write depicting the horrors of child abuse by those who are supposed to protect us. I am so glad you were able to help your friend defeat this demon. A wonderful calling you have chosen for yourself.
