Children-2 Poem by Buxton Shippy

Children-2

Children must know your voices
Registered deep within
Given the systems
They were conceived in
After multiplications
You walked away
Now forlorn
You lap like dogs
Wishing you had stayed

They cannot love
They do not know how
How could they
Abandoned by their daddies
Nearby
The man is prepared
Strip them
Even of any dignities
Remaining

So they run wild
Confused without directions
To find their way
In an uncaring world
Devoid of hope
They lined the streets
As always enriching
The beasts

We need a radical revolution
Before the next generation
History can help
But a vision is a sure thing
Let them feel your touch
And see your smiles
Even when pressed
Because
They will be oppressed too.
