Children In Street Poem by Mehta Hasmukh Amathaal

Children In Street

Children in street

"Do you listen to me God"?
How long should I carry load?
My ear drums are torn
Since I was born

Mom gone before my eyes
She too lost life to save our lives
Sister too gone while looking at flying bombs
Whole of the city has turned into tombs

What type of God they want here?
We were happy under dictator's terror
He had no axe to grind
Except some unusual things in mind

Oil was main reason
The kingdom came down due to treason
Who benefitted and who lost?
We are paying tremendous cost

Many children are in street
Whom do they greet?
There is no one to welcome
They have all died or fled away
