Christmas Is Over... 2013 Poem by Rhonda Baker

Christmas Is Over... 2013

Rating: 4.5

Christmas is over the trees been unplugged
Every pine needle vacuumed from the family room rug
All the ornaments have been put away
Safely stored for the next Christmas day
Friends and neighbors go about their business just like before
Holiday cards taken down the wreathe off the door
A sadness fills me… like everything’s been taken away
The year unwinds but for some reason I want it to stay
The uncertainty of what lies ahead fills me with fear
I want to grab everything and everyone that I hold dear
How can I be certain that there is a light up ahead?
A reason to go on, nothing to fear or dread
So I must take it on faith what God has planned for me
There are blessing just waiting for me to see
This New Year could be what I’ve been looking for
With riches and fame and memories galore
So when this year ends, only the good I will take
Filled with optimism for the New Year to awake
