Christmas Tale Poem by Gergana Teofilova

Christmas Tale

Staring outside the window bright
I see a night sky full of dreams,
Each shining star seems like a lonely knight
Armed so softly with silver gleams
Snow is falling and frost is dancing,
Paying no attention to the sleeping ground
Wind is blowing and kids are prancing,
Listening in awe to the festive sound

The blazing fire in the room
Is whispering an ancient tale,
That some believe and some assume
Yet it never will go stale
Mysteries and wonders keep it keen
Over time and space forever more,
To hundreds of generations it's always been
Their guiding light and spirit door

On a night like this in the desert cold
Wise men coming from the East,
Were bringing frankincense, myrrh and gold
For they wanted to pay homage at least
A star up above was leading their way,
The camels so tough were not slowing pace
And they kept riding all night and day
Only aspired to the King in grace

They reached a house in a town
And held their breath upon the sight,
They humbly stepped up and just fell down
All knelt before the baby's might
He was smiling sweetly at his holy mom
His eyes reflecting people's joy and tears,
Born to suffer in the years to come
And take away their pain and fears

The Magi kindly their gifts bestowed
In the worship of the Chosen one,
They didn't speak but all then bowed
Honored to have seen God's only son
The story doesn't stop here but begins
With the birth of a special child,
Whose great love was going to redeem from sins
All people who both cried and smiled

Listening to this timeless story by the fireplace
I hadn't realized that midnight came,
The kids outside had not left a trace
Snow had stopped falling, it was not the same
There was a feeling in the air though,
So beautiful and warm, as light as fluff
It made my mind so quiet and my spirit glow,
Such overwhelming bliss was just enough

The star which led the Magi's way
Had risen right before my eyes
The moon seemed like a shiny tray,
Offering her proud brightness as a prize
All of a sudden, I just heard a voice
As if coming from inside my soul,
'All is nothing but a matter of choice
And this is all you need to know

I was born and lived on Earth to teach
And make all people understand
That caring for each other was the goal to reach,
Regardless of what happened in the end
May you always be in peace
And thus behold your friends and foes,
And may your heart without a cease
For good be faithful and never closed'
