Christmas Tree Poem by Sasanka Sekhar Panda

Christmas Tree

The earth seems to be changing
with you Christmas Tree
I don't know why
the window of my heart
frames in you
the sketches of life, hope and love
for mankind
and snow sticks to the
very inch of your needle-like leaves,
like consolation and compassion
in the hours of despair.

You stand there like a
solitary prince with dignity,
who has no value of his pride,
and who has renounced the world
after loosing his ancestral kingdom
to meet the popular demand of the commoners.

You stand there like a majestic tower in the air
where every heart can meet to make love
and where time is changing
quite slowly and pleasantly.

Christmas Tree!
now I am left bare and burning
and my heart aches,
I feel myself dejected and desolate
in such a vast world of selfishness
and cut-throat competition
to achieve something.
I feel completely forlorn.

Can you give me your December cold
where I can search
for the existence of hope,
joy, jubilation and love
once again.
