Circumstances Poem by Damian Robinson

Circumstances

They say circumstances dictate your fate
That I should live and die continuing the ignorance and follies of my forefathers
To bathe in the blood of innocent to clear a path for the wealthy
That I should bow down for those who wish to step on my neck
And grind my face in the dirt in the name of progress
That love is a lie
That I should accept the limitations forced upon me
That a kid that grew within the cracks of concrete
Can never know the smell of a well manicured lawn in the land of narrow minds
That I am no better than the sins of my father
That circumstances denies me the opportunities
That which should have been mine since birth
Well I say the to hell with circumstances i create opportunities
This life is mine to conquer
