Circus And Games Poem by John Watson Holmes

Circus And Games

Circus and games to hid the pain
The strife, the fright of the world today
They give us a drink while we are at the brink
Of devastation

Some people fall and some people rise
That’s what they say in their god damn lies
You watched us, you made us, you called us, you played us
You said we could be one of you someday

The time is over of these sick little games
We’re changing the masses, we’re getting some planes
You tricked me into believing you were good
But I should have checked what was under the hood
You betrayed me, but you had no idea what I knew
Now your time is due
The watchtower will soon float away
And then I will find you and you will
pay
