Circus Menagerie - Sonnet #6
Traveling circus, nomadic pizzazz
Clowns, high wire, expansive tent, gold trim
Lions, elephants, Acrobats with sass
Cotton candy air smothers as lights dim
Audience waits for a Ringmaster’s whip
The showman delivers with cracking hiss
Authority shot straight from his left hip
Top-hatted weasel creator of bliss
Edgy, mongrel giving us just a nip
Of life with gypsies who travel for days
Living by guile, wit and colored powder
Handy for covering unpleasant ways
Gypsies seize life’s brilliant kaleidoscope
Survival at raw levels gives us hope
