City Girl Poem by Nassy Fesharaki

City Girl

City girl

Bird flew, went away, unaware I remained
“Was it crow or raven? ” I questioned.

On her head mass of gold, eyes blew like two lakes
Paint on lips, cheeks and chin to her neck
She is card, colourful, for birthday, best wishes, or invite
Her physics, a giraffe, magical, strong.

She is busy fixing net on her head to start…
“Sorry but…” I start “see that bird, what is that? ”
I go on, clarify “Raven, crow? ”
Her shoulders jump upward: “I’m not sure.”

She is Venus of Paphos in Cyprus
I forget my question, am taken by the waves
Waves of lust, waves of love, beauty and nature.
I hear voice inside: “She is great…”
She smiles as if heard a comment never said.
I hear: “Thanks a lot.”

Unhappy, with smile pretend
I wave hand as “Goodbye.”
I drive without mind, thoughts drag…
Far behind.
