Clearwater Poem by Adam Thoms

Clearwater

Someday we'll remember
How we built this city
Brick by brick, body by body
We'll drive there quick
Call shotty call shotty
You call it sick
I call it my hobby

We were driving down Clairemont
Trying not to get caught
Measure out what we've got
10 grams of friends and 5 of pot

Driving down the bypass
10 minutes late for class
Still gotta stop for gas
I'm never gunna pass

Break a 20 at the mall
Should be good for alcohol
We'll ash our problems through our cigarettes.

Our windows open music blared
There's a party somewhere
So put on your party hat
Eau Claire gets down just like that
Our windows open music blared
Moving fast going nowhere
There's just nothing to compare
To a night in Eau Claire.

While we praise and you condemn
The differences in us and them
The silly kids you call your friends
Fighting over nothing again
We'll spend out night out on the beach
Telling stories, burning leaves
We'll see how small our prides can be
The difference between you and me.

We were driving down Clairemont
Trying not to get caught
Measure out what we've got
10 grams of friends and 5 of pot

Driving down the bypass
10 minutes late for class
Still gotta stop for gas
I'm never gunna pass

Break a 20 at the mall
Should be good for alcohol
We'll ash our problems through our cigarettes.

Our windows open music blared
There's a party somewhere
So put on your party hat
Eau Claire gets down just like that
Our windows open music blared
Moving fast going nowhere
There's just nothing to compare
To a night in Eau Claire.

Let's set this night ablaze
We'll reach for the sunrise
Fight this drunken haze
Count memories with minutes
Fight any fight and win it
Leave marks on hearts
Show us where the future starts.

We've got one last shot before we pass out
One last chance to bring these walls down
One last chant into the dark
'To my friends, my friends, my friends! '
