Climate Change: A Mirage? Poem by Ajit Das

Climate Change: A Mirage?

Do you hear the cries of the earth,
rising from depths of the sea,
echoing among mountain peaks,
dying down in acid vapours?

Melting glaciers, rising sea levels,
deluge, draught: apocalypse
of tempests, desert landscapes,
threaten to ravage the planet.

Polluters, sufferers, members
of the global chambers of horrors
are caught in endless wrangling
to reduce the carbon foot-print.

They fall out, blame each other,
none caring for the vulnerable poor;
but pledge to meet once again
for another finger raising fiasco.

Primordial days rumble in the distance.
It is time for taking decisive action.
Let us rise, unite and pledge to protect
our all caring, life-giving mother earth.
