Clock, Memories Poem by Charlene Gray

Clock, Memories

the clock hung still
on eucalyptus wall.
its archaic hands, unmoved—
my vague memories, unfazed—
time ceased the moment you had left me.
i gazed and gazed- with thoughts
that wandered as a lonely cloud under somber sky.
tick-tock, tick-tock-
at intervals an ember of hope sparkled,
hoping the stolid clock to rewind.
as all was in vain,
some divine despair filled my heart,
so sad, so strange, the days that are no more.
