Closer Poem by Lisa Webster

Closer

I’m setting the clock a little ahead
Wearing your clothes and lying in bed
Daydreaming the days that lie ahead
Anything to feel closer to you

I’m singing a song like you’re listening to me
I dance in my car as if you can see
I read books like you’re lying next to me
Anything to feel closer to you

I’m trying to imagine the things that you see
Whenever you’re driving and talking to me
Wishing to be in the passenger seat
Anything to feel closer to you

Unpacking a box, throwing things away
Which memories leave, which memories stay
But the memories I want aren’t so far away
We’ll make them when I’m closer to you.

But I'm just a hop, skip, and a click away. Thank goodness for the internet, and phones. But I know it's not the same. I miss you too.

I couldn't have said it better myself.
