Closure On A Dream Poem by rawden lewis

Closure On A Dream

Hell! I maybe off target
Or I maybe right on
But there's a look that's about you
And it sure don't belong
On the face of somebody
Who's seen better skies
But how come, there's no one
Takes a look, I'd call lonesome
Faraway from your eyes.

Well, I sure was deluded
In my reading of you
But I guess that's a lesson
I was well overdue
For forgetting that troubles
Come in all shapes and size
And the look I called lonesome
Was the space left for no one
In the void of your eyes

And you sure were mistaken
In your knowing of me
An obsolete stranger
From a stranger country
Where they learn how to handle
The lows and the highs
Of emotional moments
And acts that make no sense
To the aims of their eyes

So I guess that's the saga
Of the people we are
The unnoticed shadows
In another film noire
Where the principal villains
Always hide in disguise
But who needs exposure
When we both know it's over
From the pain in our eyes

Except our life's not a movie
Or a theory of games
It's a genuine journey
That we map with the names
Of the people who meet us
Whether wounded or wise
Like a child held sacred
Or ideas felt naked
In the lines round our eyes
