Clues Poem by Victoria Gauci

Clues

I have clues as to your return,
All these thoughts make my heart burn,
I've recalled things from the past,
Dissecting why it didn't last,

What comes to mind is your big mouth,
And all the stuff that you talk about,
Things you say that you shouldn't say,
This is what got in the way,

Here I am all confused,
Wondering now what to do,
All the positives that come to mind,
Need be looked at and redefined,

Trust is not your greatest asset,
You throw words out like a ball to a basket,
You don't think before you speak,
Making the bond feel rather weak,

What do I do now with this reality?
That you could so easily betray me,
I've got to keep you at a distance,
Never letting you be a witness,

You will spill my deepest secrets,
Leaving me vulnerable and at my weakest,
Funny thing how God presents,
A hardy challenge and predicament.
