Cobargo Of The Snowy Poem by Francis Duggan

Cobargo Of The Snowy

Cobargo of the snowy your streets wind up and down
And an old Swiss man i spoke to said you look like old Swiss town
Surrounded by high country by hills wooded and green
And i will long remember such beauty i have seen.

On Snowy mountain highway the cars drive to and fro
They come down hill in second gear and climb the rise in low
You drive fast through these mountains you put your life at stake
You must change down to low gear your foot close to the brake.

Out on the Snowy mountains the ghosts of black men sleep
These hills as old as time itself what secrets do they keep?
What did this Country look like before the white man came?
And man for his endeavour these mountains could not tame.

The rugged Snowy mountains so wild and desolate
Where wombat in the twilight go searching for a mate
Where roo the indigenous live and native red dog cry
Man could not tame these mountains no matter how he'd try.

Cobargo of the snowy the little mountain Town
Where traffic from the highway move slowly up and down
Surrounded by high country by hills wooded and green
And i will long remember such beauty i have seen.
