Cold Fire (A Song) Poem by Jade Leven

Cold Fire (A Song)

you can love me for all that I am worth to you
you can save me however many times you want to
but in the end, I will always belong to this lonely city
in the end, I don't think I have it in me...
to love you, to love you

when I first met him, he said he was so cold and empty
until he met me, until he met me
but the life never left his eyes, and when that boy cries
it's like the world is ending, the world is ending

we stayed up so late every night until the moon would fall
and we would sing to feel like we were living for anything at all
the light from the T.V. screen lit up the room like cold fire
were you always a fool, I would ask, were you always a liar?

when I first met him, he said he was so cold and empty
until he met me, until he met me
but the life never left his eyes, and when that boy cries
it's like the world is ending, the world is ending

I want to believe that you are the same
but when I look at you, all I see is constant change
you say you're willing to forget me
and I believe you, because the light left your eyes, and now you're empty

when I first met him, he said he was so cold and empty
until he met me, until he met me
even though the light left his eyes, when that boy cries
it's like the world is ending, the world is ending
