Colette Dunne Poem by Francis Duggan

Colette Dunne

One of the members of the famed Duggan family of The Bridge in Millstreet Town Colette Dunne has passed away
Her last remains are interred in Atlanta in the U S A
Where she had raised her children far from Millstreet her Hometown
Near where old Finnow from high Gneeves ever babbles his way down

By ditches and by hedgerows he slowly winds his way
Through rushy fields to the Blackwater every night and every day
Perhaps with her young friends in the river she did swim on warm evenings in July
When young birds chirped on the hedgerows and the sun shone in the sky.

She migrated from the Town of Millstreet when I was a young boy
And memories of her great beauty she left us all to enjoy
A kind and unconceited person one who was free of guile
I still retain fond memories of her and her lovely smile.

Memories of the Colette that I once knew are well worthy of recall
And sad to learn she has passed away though death comes to us all
One can only hope that from life her's was a painless release
And lovely Colette Dunne nee Duggan may she now rest in peace.
