Colorado Poem by Victoria Waylett

Colorado

~Close my eyes~
Scenery overwhelming for the eyes to see.
Snow crunching under my feet.
Heat of fire embracing us all.
Snow shivering tree tops.
Golden fur dancing with the wind as he begs with hope. Eyes and face cunning.
~Open my eyes~
Sweet smell of honeysuckle in bloom.
Feet sink into scorching sand.
Ocean so clear its life can be watched unfold.
Reality taking hold.
~Close my eyes~
I see lodgepole court
Snow sprinkled upon a porch
I feel the warmth and happiness twirl around.
~Open my eyes~
I see family of mine, that though bad has passed we see eye to eye.
I know that reality is where I lay.
I know that only I can make my own luck.
~Closing my eyes~
I see ~~~~
~Falling into my slumber~
I continue to wonder.
