Colored Poem by Caylin Paige

Colored

You were my dream and everything in between.
I just didn't see those lies you told to me.
I was colored by our past.
And Finely dressed in hopes for our future.
Unknowingly walking a tight rope
Thats threads were worn and tethered
My heart was shattered by the fall.
Unwilling to accept the inevitable
Pain and loss I would have to suffer.
I kept myself finely dressed in hopes for our future.
And always colored by our past.
But I should have known it wouldn't last that your words were always vastly scripted.
Telling me only what my heart wanted to hear.
Only putting band aides on shattered pieces of me.
Only to fall apart once again later.
I am no longer dressed in hopes for our future.
I am naked to the outside world
I am bare.
But I will forever be colored by our past.
