Columbine Poem by Holly Jamestone

Columbine

Through the silence and the tributes
Through the courage and the pain
I search for why and long to know
These tears are not in vain

With heaven as your home now
Angels sweet caress your face
Whose soothing and consoling
Helped you exit from this place

I want to know, be reassured
That overwhelming Love
Protected you the moment
As you passed to skies above

And hopefully you never knew
The horror in that place
As stronger arms and brighter lights
Helped fill you with God's grace

I'm praying that a special shield
Not only calmed your fears
But left behind a global strength
To help all with their tears

And though I never knew you
I still grieved for you and cried
For each of you, for what's to come
For loss I felt inside

I wept for fallen children
For their parents, for their peers
Who struggle for some wisdom
Or an answer to their tears

Your courage overwhelmed me
And your strength gave me the hope
That all who dearly miss you
Will so gently learn to cope
