Come Back My Friend Poem by Leslie Alexis

Come Back My Friend

Rating: 4.0

Ring, ring, ring…
I dialed again and again.
I was trying to reach, my long lost friend.
The lines are closed lines it seems (she answered not) ,
I may have to cry...cry her out of my heart.

One week has passed, but the memories stay.
She was my fateful friend, we spoke each day.
Lunching together, hanging together,
She became my sister and I her brother.
She promised me that we would be friends, forever.

I wonder when in our existence it started,
When was the moment that our destinies parted?
We talked of loved ones, her shoulder I had
To lean on… but now no more and I’m sad.

I worry, I still do not think it is true.
I expect this from enemies, not a friend like you.
Was it because I resurrected a monster green
The time you sad you were taken? To me still a dream
That I don’t believe. I want to scream...

Scream you back into my life. Maybe if I
Call upon the Lord, he will reply
And I will see you again, even it is to say goodbye.
