Communication Poem by Jeremy Nel

Communication

Each day we talk
To each other
With our bodies, our walk
As we look at one another
With eyes that say more
Than words could ever tell

In everything we do
We say something
Whether in words said so
In gestures, or how we’re feeling
For the smile upon our faces
Radiate the love we have

With a gentle touch
A comforting smile
The quiet reaching out
Just to hold you for a while
It all communicates
The love we have

Your loving eyes
Oft so troubled when we meet
Clear as rapidly as the Irish sky
To become again so sweet
As you engage in conversation
So animated, yet so voracious

For we are friends
Who can listen or say
As each recounts the events
Or the troubles of the day
Then we engage as lovers
Gently, passionately and lovingly

As the night ticks slow
We change our roles
As differing our needs do grow
Our bodies converse in interaction
Then our souls do merge
And we grow quiet, as one.
