Companions In The Garden Poem by VICTORIA HEIM

Companions In The Garden

Sundown in this city where the spires rise
come to Prayer - the muezzin's call
There is no God but God
when the summons refrain from minaret to minaret
reach the companions in the garden
stop now whatever they are doing
Pause and wash face, hands and feet
Spread the little prayer rug
Unite in this reverent act
Turn towards Mecca - each day more humble obedience
From many lips 'Allahu Albar!God is more Great! '
Surrender to Allah, in whose eyes all are equal
Palms uplifted - knees to the ground
urges one to settle conflicting battles
Worship and learn - the quest for knowledge
Friday spent in the Mosque
Tiled dome - hanging ceiling lanterns
a beautiful Masterpiece
inspire wishes for a blessed Pilgrimage
