You never were cowed down or liked to be ruled
So sweet and upright were and always liked to be praised.
We loved and walked together on a path so clean,
Hand in hand, eye to eye, two souls so kith and keen.
But I don’t know what makes you to be away so soon
At a long long distance apart, completely unknown.
We never confronted nor flattered ever
Never we were apart but loving each other.
We knew and believed that we won’t remain for good,
We have to leave this earth in due time - of course.
But I don’t know what makes you to be away so soon
At a long long distance apart, completely unknown.
You could never move or walk in the darkness alone
The sun sets, it’s twilight now –darkness will surround the globe,
Come on dear, give me your hand - let me hold very tight,
Still I can’t forget my love and leave you alone in the night.
I’m to tell you many a more, still they remain untold
We’ll walk in this moon lit night and speak them in between.
But I don’t know what makes you to be away so soon

Describing your sweetheart so poetically and how you felt with her, telling of your deep love for her, then wondering where she's gone so soon from you, all combined makes a beautiful, but sad story of true love. Excellent poem, Amitava, you've outdone yourself again. RoseAnn
You are speaking directly to me here - an unknown someone whom you can know as if she resides in your heart but still she escapes your senses when you wake up. I am your dream sir, that elusive happiness that you long for, that which keeps your heart beating. I am poetry. Thank you for the inspiration and the expression. I am enamored, not disappointed.
Relationships can be very unsteady at times. Some days are familiar just like the sun that shines every day. Other days are unknown just like a lion that seems to sleep so peacefully and when awakened feels threatened. Never go for a ride on love unless you are good and ready! Nice poem.
The pain of an intimate relationship abruptly cut down ! ! Its intensity can be felt in every line! ! A moving write! !
