Confinement Poem by Jeannette Heywood

Confinement

Prior to confinement you were only mine.
My precious joy within, a delicate time.

A mixture of feelings concoct in my mind.
Keep you to myself? Share you with mankind?

Nestled within my womb, you are curled.
Reluctantly, I will share you with the world.

Protecting you was easy, prior to your birth.
But seeing you up close, fills my heart with mirth.

Enveloping your being inside me I'll miss.
Though existing beside you, brings me such bliss.
