Confinement Poem by Teresa Chrobak

Confinement

in the last breath i will
close my eyes and see my soul
playing with my heart because
I have forgotten who I am

in the last step i will
open my eyes and see a new path
and i run to see where it
leads a wandering, willing spirit

to the edge of her perception and to
the precipice of her dreams
she throws herself into the abyss of energy
where her last step will begin

in her first flight
she opens her wings in hesitation
and realizes the wind will take
her in the direction of peace and light
