Conflict Poem by Elizabeth Kurian

Conflict

The unwary heart,
Caught in a whirlpool of desires,
Loath to drown in the sea of sorrow,
Clutches desperately at straws of hope,
Knowing fully well its futility.

Rescue boats speed past unheedingly;
The distant shore of unfulfilled dreams
Beckons tantalizingly, while the victim,
Deserted by all, is tossed about ruthlessly,
By the waves of reality and fantasy.
