Consciousness Poem by Steven Aragon

Consciousness

Rating: 3.5

I have yet to find
A substance substantial enough
For me to submerge in,
Like a subdued submarine, I
Begin to subside
To the bottom, but I
Refuse to submit,
My subconsciousness shall
Not subjugate me.

The more I diverge
from all those who have,
I converge on my own path,
Beyond what the body can grasp,
Near the verge of at-one-ment,
But always seem held back,
As if there was a glass ceiling above
the last step of the stairway
To heaven.

I beging to relapse,
Spiraling back to the depths,
Where my soul is scoched by
The flaming pit in the inferno
That lay below.
