Considering Acceptance Poem by Dana Korneisel

Considering Acceptance

I know she needs you, needs you more
Than I, just for to live
I know she makes you smile and laugh
And that you'd gladly give

All that you can, all that you could
To bring her back to life
But could you really be with her?
Pretend, to save her strife?

While I burn here with passionate hope
So many miles away
And my words rhyme and twist and send
You, my love, better days.

So could you hold her in your arms?
And could you lie to her?
And could you let her think that you
Thought all those things of her?

I know you'll only hurt her more
And she can't take that pain
I know that I can't help her live
But I'm here, all the same.
